However, in some areas at higher altitudes, such as the Rwenzori Mountains and Mount Elgon, temperatures can drop below freezing point.
Wet Season
The wet season in Uganda generally takes place from March to May and September to November. This period is characterized by increased rainfall and slightly cooler temperatures. The average temperature during the wet season ranges between 20°C (68°F) and 28°C (82°F). The rainfall patterns can vary across different regions of the country, with some areas experiencing heavier rainfall than others.
Regional Variations
Uganda’s climate varies across its different regions due to factors such as altitude, proximity to water bodies, and topography. Here are some notable regional variations:
Central Region: The central region, including the capital city Kampala, experiences a relatively mild climate throughout the year. Temperatures range between 21°C (70°F) and 29°C (84°F), with rainfall occurring evenly throughout the year.

Eastern Region: The eastern region of Uganda has a more pronounced dry season compared to other parts of the country. It receives less rainfall overall, with an average annual precipitation ranging from 800mm (31 inches) to 1,200mm (47 inches). The temperatures in this region are generally higher, with averages ranging from 25°C (77°F) to 33°C (91°F).
